February is one of our very favorite months in the Everglades. Mosquitos are low, wildlife is out and about and the Everglades daisies are blooming!

Everglades National Park news
Recovery from Hurricane Irma continues and is fairly complete, except for the buildings in Flamingo, which are a work in progress.
We were happy that despite the government shut down, we were still allowed to operate in the park and conduct our tours.
Legislative news:
Senator Rob Bradley's Senate Bill 370 just passed the Florida Senate unanimously! SB 370 invests $100 million annually into Florida Forever, our state's signature land conservation program. The bill also included an Audubon-supported amendment that excludes government agency operations from using the Land Acquisition Trust Fund. This move leaves more funding available for the core priority conservation programs instead of administrative costs.
